Cookie policy
Last updated: 16 October 2026.
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on www.toastie.me, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in the same way. The law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) says we must ask your permission before using any that aren't strictly necessary for a service you've asked for.
What this site uses
Analytics and marketing cookies, only if you agree. If you click "Accept all", we use:
- Google Analytics, to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited and how people found us. This sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by a code, which last up to 2 years.
- HubSpot, our customer records system, to see which pages are visited. If you later register your interest or contact us, HubSpot links those visits to your record, so we know what you were interested in. HubSpot sets cookies named __hstc and hubspotutk (6 months), __hssc (30 minutes) and __hssrc (until you close your browser), and keeps some tracking information in your browser's local storage.
Both are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which itself sets no cookies. If you click "Essential only", or don't choose, none of this is loaded.
We don't use advertising or social media tracking pixels, and our fonts are served from our own website, not from Google.
Everything else we store on your device is strictly necessary for features you choose to use:
- Your quote in progress (local storage, once online quotes are available): remembers the answers you've given so far, so you don't lose them if you leave the page. It stays on your device until you finish or clear your browser storage.
- Your cookie choice (local storage): remembers whether you clicked "Accept all" or "Essential only", for 12 months, so we don't ask on every page.
- Admin login (cookie, Toastie staff only): keeps Toastie staff signed in to the website's editing area. Visitors never receive it.
Because these are strictly necessary, we don't need to ask before using them. We still tell you about them here.
Other websites and embedded content
Some pages may link to other websites, or in future include embedded content such as a video. Those services may set their own cookies, and their own policies apply. Where embedded content would set non-essential cookies, we'll ask your permission first.
Changing your mind
Use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page to change your choice at any time. If you switch to "Essential only", we remove the Google Analytics and HubSpot cookies from your browser. If we add any other non-essential cookies, we'll ask your permission first and update this page.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser's settings. Blocking them won't stop you reading this site, but you may lose a quote in progress. Information Commissioner's Office: cookies explains more.
