Home battery not charging: what to check first
1 min read · Updated 15 October 2026
Check the app for an error, then the schedule and the isolator. If none of those explain it, it's usually firmware, the inverter or the BMS.
1. The app
Look for error codes and whether the battery is online. A lost connection can look like a fault.
2. The settings
Check charge schedules, reserve levels and tariff settings. A tariff change can leave the battery waiting for a window that no longer exists.
3. The isolator
Make sure the battery and inverter isolators are on. Don't open any enclosures.
4. Call someone
If it's still not charging, it needs an engineer. Note any error codes first.
Annual service, monitoring and repairs, any make.
